WHILE YOU’RE HERE
The dedicated staff at JAN Airport is committed to providing friendly, responsive service to every traveler who passes through. From assisting with check-in and security to offering directions and mobility support, team members are always ready to help with a smile. Our goal is to ensure a smooth, stress-free experience from curb to gate.
On July 2, 2025, we honored what would have been Medgar Evers’ 100th birthday—a powerful reminder of his enduring legacy. Evers, Mississippi’s NAACP Field Secretary, was tragically assassinated in June 1963. Yet his fight for voting rights, equal education, job opportunities, and human dignity fueled national support and propelled the Civil Rights Movement forward.
Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport proudly commemorates his life through The Medgar Wiley Evers Pavilion, which features compelling exhibits on Evers and other trailblazing Mississippians in education, business, and government. Visitors can explore an interactive timeline, view a documentary narrated by Civil Rights icon Julian Bond, and reflect in the meditation space titled “Reconciliation: A Work in Progress.”
The Pavilion’s evolving exhibits, created with the guidance of Myrlie Evers-Williams and a dedicated advisory committee, continue to educate and inspire all who pass through JAN.
